Abstract:
Beqala.com is a leading Egyptian grocery shopping website which aspires to bring convenience to its customers, sparing them the hassle of hours spent stuck in traffic and long queues at the supermarket. By analyzing consumer insights, online consumption and traffic conditions in Egypt, the co-founders concluded that a need exists for a convenient online grocery shopping experience. They focused on educating consumers to shift from the traditional protocol of going to the grocery store, to a more value added online option. At the same time they are working on creating a positive dynamic environment where employees are passionate about the online value added concept. This had put Beqala.com founders in front of two available business models that they have to choose between them, did they chose to own a warehouse themselves or act as a middleman by listing products from different supermarkets on the website and taking care of delivery?
