The new edition devotes full attention to areas like South and Southeast Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the Muslim presence in wider areas of the world.
In addition, topical entries will generally be presented with English, rather than Arabic, words. Some concepts will still be presented under their Arabic (or Persian, Turkish, etc.) names but with full cross-referencing.
